Hi how does Semaglutide, Ozempic affect Type 2, is it to help with diet it reduce blood/sugar levels. I have been on the weekly injection for 9 months and don't really understand it, as I believed it was supposed to make me feel full (it doesn't). Also, what does a reading of 46 mean in the scheme of things
Thank you

Hi there @gil2625

I can’t help with the medication, although I do recall seeing a few threads about it on here, so would be worth you having a search until some others come along.

For the HbA1c, 46 is at the high end of the ‘pre-diabetic’ range. In the UK, diabetes is diagnosed at a reading of 48 or above; pre diabetes is 42-47.

How does that number compare with your previous readings? I’m guessing that you weren’t started on Ozempic with an HbA1c of 46?

Ozempic increases the production of insulin after eating. So lower blood glucose after eating and better HBA1c. It also delays stomach emptying and suppresses appetite. It seems to reduce heart and kidney disease risk too.

Hi @gil2625 I see that you started off trying to control your T2D through diet alone ( no medication).
Did you have any success with that?
Did you use and actual 'diet' (almost guaranteed to fail ) or did you try a Low Carb Highe(er) traditional Fat 'Way Of Eating' testing meals with a BG meter and counting carbs rather than calories?

The good advantages I found with LCHF WOE were:
1. Good BG control with immediate feedback from the BG meter if going off track.
2. No hunger - eat satisfying low carb meals with a high enough fat content to stay feeling full.
3. Weight dropped without even trying - no conscious calorie reduction.
4. No need for any diabetes medication.

It does increase insulin also been told it can repair beta cells. Most get appetite reduction due to slower digestion of food. Been on it three months bmi 22 now and I can’t eat a lot. My hba1c has dropped to 38. It was as high as 86 last year
Was 56in Feb went on victoza but side effects were bad but brought it down to 44. Ozempic affects everyone differently. What dose are you on.
