Assuming you are in the UK, you are talking about driving cars, your sight is OK, and you are not taking insulin and don't have sensory problems in your legs there is no need to tell the DVLA.
HbA1c is nothing to do with it as it's a long-term measure, and the concern is about having a hypo while driving.

JCBBFC27 is showing as having Type1 using insulin though the DVLA have to be informed (they may already be)
@JCBBFC27 as CatsFive said the DVLA do not care about the HbA1c, its your hypo awareness they want to know about and if you have had any hypos that you needed assistance for, they dont need to know numbers, just hypo-awareness and hypo details
Hba1c is completely irrelevant in the UK.. complications and hypos are.. so if you have very low hba1c there would be concern about hypos… and very high concern about damage to eyes etc..
Thank you for everyone's replies. My HBAC1 has been a lot higher for the past year, the last one was 60mmol which is high for me. I used to hit around 49 to 54 easily. That was my concern for driving.
