I have been managing with Diet only with my diabetes .
Seeing the nurse today , andI notice that my HBA1C is 66 . I just filled out the new form , to take to the appointment.
Will they put me on metmorfin for that reading ?
I already take Blood pressure and cholesterol meds .
Any info would help ........ Dont really want to go on other meds as well.
I am 54 / no smoking and no drinking , month 6 of NO Alcohol !!
Thanks
:)

You could well go on something a little stronger than Metformin. However, of the things tried on me they didn't lower my BS by much. The first thing I would do in your situation is to have a review of the diet.

What's your diet?

It could be your diet that is causing the problem, and yes, they are likely to put you on meds with such a high reading. Please don't rely on meds to bring your levels down. They do help but not that much.

I agree. Lowering the carbs is the way to go if you haven't already done that. What is your weight/BMI? Metformin can help a little bit if you are overweight but the other tablets available that I've been thru are better suited to those nearer normal weight and with a failing pancreas rather than insulin resistance
