HBA1C vs Fasting Blood Glucose levels

Pre HbA1c & Pre 1997 the diagnostic level was based on FBG >7.8.
Then they dropped it to 7 & introduced the Pre-Diabetic FBG of 5.7-6.9.
Later HbA1c became adopted but I've seen correlation between the two in studies, not to hand atm.

Is there a direct relationship between the fasting blood glucose levels with your HBA1C?

For example, if a fasting blood glucose level reads between 5-6 mmols/l, does it also mean a lower HBA1C?

Not necessarily

It would depend on many factors.. if you fbg is 5 and the rest of the day your bg is 25 you will have a higher hba1c than if your bg is <10 all day

So type of diabetes along with diet and activity will make a difference

Example

For many years my fbg would be 5 to 6. But during the day I was constantly >10. So alway had a high hba1c
