Hi there
I had similar surgery this time last year, removal of cyst, ovaries and hysterectomy including cervix. I take oral meds.
I experienced problems post surgery and spent 6 hours in recovery whilst they tried to stabilise my sugar level. I was put on an insulin pump for two days and was fine.
My incision was hip to hip and stapled.
I was worried about infection and so was very observant that docs and nurses and visitors used hand gel.
I needn't have worried, the wound healed well and I'm sure yours will too. Just be sensible and keep your levels stable.
Biggest issue is really uncomfortable wind after surgery especially day 2/3.
Make sure you drink something fizzy even if you don't normally, as it is worse than the surgery!
Peppermint tea and mints help but I wish I had opted for cola or irn bru to relieve my symptoms, but never drink the stuff!
So don't worry and good luck with your op, I hope all goes well for you.
Best Wishes.
