Helllllp please. I am a Type 2, new here. I have recently gone on to insulin injections, Novomix ones, and am getting on reasonably well though still trying to adjust things to get my glucose into the target range, but last night we had a crisis with my daughter (I am a full time carer at home) and in the midst of the chaos I ate my evening meal without taking my injecion. I only realised many hours later when I felt really lousy around 5 am. I had no idea what to do. I tested and it was over 12. Its now 6.20 in the morning and I am planning to have an early breakfast and take my usual morning jab and then monitor to see what happens. I figured it was way too late to replace the missed jab. For future reference, have I done the right thing or should I have acted differently? Cheers, G

I did that the other day. I'm supposed to take one nightly injection of 20 units

I called a nurse at my hospital, and she told me to take 10 units the morning after I missed, 15 that night, and to get back on track the next night.

Hi
How many injections are you on per day. If its one, then the advice given would make sense, and just to build back up over a day or so. However if its two injections per day then be careful.

You cant correct high insulin with a premixed insulin like novomix. The peaks and troughs of the insulin profile mean that you are at risk of hypo if you take too much, and dont match it with food. So the short acting bit might help if you dont eat but if the short acting bit hits with the long acting bit from your last shot then this is not good.

You did the right thing by taking it early, and it wont kill you to have done it the once. FWIW a reading of 12 is not great but not as bad as it could be so dont stress about it.
