Hello again lovely ladies.

I was previously here under 'sarahkylie88' but I forgot my password and the email linked to that username no longer works. I think because I was inactive it automatically signed me out!!

I'm a type one diabetic and have been for almost 20 years! As some of you know I had my son, Arlo; last year he was born at 27 weeks and lived for 6 weeks.

All of my complications were non diabetes related and were possibly genetic (although so extremely rare that genetics specialists have not been able to figure out any syndrome or condition) and premature rupture of membranes!

We were told to wait a year to ttc again. We have decided to come off contraception after 44 weeks which means I only have one pill packet left and I'm absolutely terrified!!!

My hba1c before conceiving and for the 6 months I was pregnant was 5.8%.

I know it's not as good as that this time!! I just can't seem to get my mojo back! It is good enough to ttc at 6.7% but I want to tighten up but I seem to be really struggling!!! I'm due another hba1c this month! So I'm hoping it's slightly improved!!!

I seem to struggle with dropping sugars before bed and in the morning, but when I reduce carb ration I go too high!! It's really frustrating as if I am lucky enough to fall pregnant again I want to be confident with my sugars as the pregnancy after the loss of our gorgeous boy will be extremely stressful anyway, diabetes aside!

Sorry I've been missing in action, as you can imagine we have had a lot to cope with as a family!!!

Hello lovely to hear from you again. I wouldn't stress that's good control, don't put extra pressure on yourself to get it perfect.
I hope you and your family are doing ok. Fab to see you back on here xx

Hi so sorry to hear that but please try not to add any extra pressure on yourself! Your a1c is good and remember first trimester involves a lot of hypos so it will naturally fall when the time comes. You're being too hard on yourself, you done a great job with your son, you know it was nothing to do with diabetes, and you'll do a great job again - keep telling yourself that! I'm also about to start ttc again and I found that my sugars started to go all over the place then I rage bloused with corrections and it just became difficult to spot trends etc. I think because we need a little help and will be starting fertility treatment again I just felt under pressure but have, over the last few days, really focussed and relaxed a little, waiting and watching to test my basal and I've been making tweaks and things seem to be settling down (fingers crossed!). everything can effect our BS but just take the time to really focus on basal testing to get that locked down then into ratios etc. just focus on the most problematic time of day. For me, that has been overnight with lows so I'm working on that and will focus on another part of day once that's sorted. Take a little bit at a time and don't try to fix everything at once. It's helped me so far and I hope it does you. You'll get there, sometimes we just need to take a step back. Lots of luck x

Hello again - lovely to hear from you. XXX

If you'd like, I'm sure your username issue can be sorted and you can use that account again. You might prefer the new account and that's fine. Just let me know if you want it changed :)

Have you tried changing your ratio by a tiny fraction? Some people stick to 1:8 1:10 1:12 etc but 1:9 is possible. You might already be doing that, but I found tiny tweaks helped me.

Tweety88 wishing you all the best with trying and hope all goes well this time!
I've been diabetic for over 20 years and expecting our first. My HA1C was 6.9 when we got the ok to try and since then gone down to 6.3...my best ever! I'm sure you will get there....xx

Wishing you all good things. Be gentle to yourself. As you've unfortunately seen a perfect hba1c does not guarantee anything. Do your best but don't beat yourself up about it. In the great catch 22 stress raises most of our blood sugars. Maybe try a snack before bed to counter dropping blood sugars?

I have to say I've found that when waiting a long time ttc control slips as you're disheartened (or in your case have too much to deal with). I always found that once I actually was pregnant my control instantly improved.
