I have been a very regular lurker on this site for a few months and I am so grateful for the advice I have gained through following your posts.

I was diagnosed Dec 2014 with HbA1c of 48. Got that down to 42 by losing weight. My weight loss had stalled and is impacted by my cyclical anxiety and depression, so I was pretty certain it would go up again. I knew I had a few months where I would be relatively quiet as far as work goes and pretty much in charge of what I was eating, so I did Michael Mosley's Blood Sugar Diet (ND with real food) for 9 weeks until the end of April. I met my target of 2 stones lost and my BG levels have come down slowly but steadily over that period. They weren't high to begin with. I am a stone lighter than I have been for 20 years - I've yo yo'd over the years. I have lost 4.5 stone since diagnosis

I now feel that this next stage is the most difficult, i.e. continuing to lose weight after the BSD. My BMI is 28, so I still have a bit to lose. I found the BSD surprisingly easy, but obviously I'm not losing weight as quickly and am only just working out the amount of food I should eat. I am committed to LCHF, it makes so much sense, but would eventually like to be able to eat pulses, higher carb veg and more fruit (jut a few berries at moment) , so not super low carb. I have eaten relatively little meat in the past. I am a big fan of fasting (love Jason Fung) and have had success at the 5:2 previously (which made 800 cals a day on the BSD much easier I think). So, as my weight was going nowhere after the BSD, except up slightly, and the same with my FBS despite LCHF, I did an almost total fast last week - approx 100 cals a day. I wanted to do 3 or 4 days, but ended up doing 6 as I found it relatively easy. My bloods were amazing over that time and have been good since. I plan to restrict my carbs to 30g or less with some intermittent fasting of different types (keep my body guessing!) for the time being.

Thank you so much for your advice and inspiration. You are all amazing, Your hints and tips have made LCHF so much easier e.g. Lidl rolls were a game changer, as I don't think could have given up bread long term.

I'm going to make the most of the sunshine here today, so I probably won't respond to any posts until this evening - just so you know I'm not being rude. I wanted to make a first post though whilst I 'felt brave enough', rather than just lurk in the background.
