As I'm in the Netherlands, I'm going to just steal a bit @Bluetit1802 wrote about meters and where to get them in the UK. Hope that's okay. You see, the meters aren't the expense... The strips are. So you want a meter that won't cost you an arm and a leg to use.Thank you so much for commenting with all the advice! Appreciate it and good to know where to come for help!
Where can you purchase testing kits from?
I currently have torn ACL which limits what type of exercise I can do due to it being unstable. But I am defo 200% going to attempt something at least as well as a complete lifestyle and diet overhaul.
Thank again
Kelly

Anyway, as Blue put it:
The most popular meters for self funding T2's are the Codefree and the Tee2 because the strips are much cheaper than other meters, and you need a lot of strips. You can't buy them in pharmacies.
Try here for the Codefree meter

and here for the extra strips

There are discount codes if you buy in bulk.
5 packs 264086
10 packs 975833
The Tee2 is here

Don’t forget to check the box that you have diabetes so you can buy VAT free. (for either meter)
Far as excercise goes, I couldn't do anything when I first started out. When I was diagnosed my knees would regularly buckle out of nowhere, making me faceplant. Muscleweakness incombination with morbid obesity sucks. It wasn't until I was well into the diet that I started to feel better and actually started being able to move around more. (Climbing stairs! Walking 15 kilometers! Woa! I had to buy walking shoes!) So something you'll hear here quite often: You can't outrun a bad diet, meaning you can spend as much time in the gym as you want, it's the food that'll make the difference. And it did. So whether your knee throws a wrench in or not, doesn't matter. You'll be okay anyway, just to spite it.
