Hello

My name is Iain
I have been a Type2 diabetic for 5 years,At first i looked after myself checked and checked and checked until i could not prick my fingers any more.I was frightened off my condition i thought " OH NO i have diabetes ",I thought i couldnt work i couldnt do this or that .I soon realised i had to change my lifestyle and live with diabetes.
Everything was going well for a few years then i stopped looking after myself,My body started to tell me i was not looking after it.........Endless episodes in the hospital,I would feel better then months later i would be back in the hospital diabetes issues again.
Becoming dependant on alcohol was not helping so on the 31st of oct 2007 i stopped drinking and my diabetes has started to be more under control.
I was in hospital 10/11 weeks ago with GUESS WHAT ?????? Correct a diabetes issue!!caused by a lung infection.
I weighed at that time 27st 4lb.
I was started on Gliclizide 80mg (2 tablets per day)
I have lost 24lb since i was in hospital (I think if i have done the maths correct)I now weigh 25st 8lb
I had a follow up appointment today and i have been told to reduce the Gliclizide to 40mg (1 per day) and i have to start Injecting Byetta as from Monday.
I also take metformin slow realease 500mg (4 per day),I take blood pressure medication which is controling my blood pressure.
I did a search on Byetta and found this forum........................
So that is why I am here

Any questions we can help you with just fire away.

Hi Iain
Byetta has had some good results even if the side effects at first are nastty tummy grumbles. It is effective for weight loss too.
I wish you well on it
Hana

Thank you

Byetta or Bynotta

I am going to give it a go even if and it is only an IF ,
My medication is going to make me a high risk to having a hypo.
and
I will have to go through tests to prove to the dvla that i am capable ( more than capable ) of still carrying out my daily duties as a bus driver.

Thanks again

Iain
