Hello from newly diagnosed t2d.

Once you've been diagnosed, it will always be there even when you have control, you can be in remission but to be cured is unfortunately not achievable yet, hope soon tho!

Control is the key to getting your blood glucose levels down and low carb lifestyle is the way to lose weight, they go hand in hand. As above you need to find out what foods you can or cannot tolerate, even some low GI foods spike you!
Yes, if you need to lose weight, if you get below your fat threshold, everyone is different, then insulin resistance is much better and the need for cutting the carbs back reduces, but hopefully by then the need for carbs diminishes.
T2 diabetes is usually a dietary disease but can be treated by cutting out the wrong types of foods for you.
Hopefully others will be along to give you links to good information.
Have you read the diabetes.co.uk homepage on T2? You do need to learn for yourself as no one else can feed you.. Take control.

I agree with liam1955, test, record and inform yourself. the answer to your question is a definite yes. Get in control of blood sugars, and reduce the carbs which should lower levels and hopefully reduce weight. If we get our levels down to normal that does not mean everything's wonderful internally...as eating the same old rubbish we ate before will bring those levels right back up again. For me, personally, weight has never been an issue...and had nothing whatsoever to do with my diabetes. Sadly this makes most dieticians a waste of time for me...as they are obsessed with weight loss and body image...and seem blissfully ignorant of other reasons to need to control diet! Staggering. Good luck.

Hi I need help understandings type 2 diabetes. Just finished a group meeting with a dietitian. All she talked about was weight loss and informed me even if I loss the weight I will still be a diabetic. My question is it not more important to control my sugar levels and hopefully loss weight on a low carb diet. She never talked about blood glucose levels only weight loss. Any help would be appreciated
