People who "try" to help you with your diabetes and don't know anything about it but still give you "advice".
Hi Everybody,

I am Annemarie from the Netherlands. I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in 2010.
I'm 28 years old and at the moment preparing for my first pregnancy.
I have used Metformin and Gliclazide (dutch name) before i wanted to get pregnant.

About 3 months ago i switched to insulin (novorapid 3x and lantus 1x) I'm still using Metformine.
My HbA1c was not so bad (7,5 mmoll/l) before i started with insulin. My latest HbA1c was 6,3 and we have had the "green light" to
get started :-). I'm very excited because i'm a preparing for 3 years now. This includes weight loss. I have lost 30 kilo's in a period of 3 years which i'm very proud of.
By now i am already used to all the measuring, injecting and controlling carbs but sometimes i still think it's unfair that people with diabetes should try so hard to accomplish something that healthy people relatively easy can achieve.

Because i am preparing for pregnancy i joined your forum to get some more information about this topic and i hope to meet more
people with T2 and pregnancy plans so we can support each other and give each other tips and trics.
On the dutch forum there are not much people who have T2 and have pregnancy plans also so that's why i give it a try on this forum.

Greetings Annemarie

Hi sanguine,
Thanks for your welcome message! Last time i checked Sydney was part of Australia ;-).
Although, we ran into a lot of dutchies there.
We were in Australia 2 years ago during a holiday and this picture is one of my favorites :-)

Hi @DutchgirlT2 welcome to the forum! x love your avatar of the harbour x I also wanna get pregnant next year let's keep our fingers crossed! X
Hi Adelle0607,
Thanks for your message. I wish you al the luck in the world with preparing. I will keep my fingers crossed for the both of us!

Hi and welcome. Sounds like you have the right medication to enable you to manage your diabetes. Are you carb-counting with the NovoRapid? As long as you can maintain a good BMI then you should be able to control your blood sugar quite well. I assume you are also sensibly controlling your carbs to reduce the risk of putting weight back on?

Hello and welcome, Annemarie :D
It's good to see someone from the Netherlands on here, I was born near Dordrecht, though my mother is Norwegian, and my father Scottish

Congratulations on your weight loss, and a great A1c

Hi Daibell,

Thanks for your welcome message! Novorapid and Lantus work very well with my body.
The 30 kilo's weight drop also makes a huge difference i think (I don't have to inject much insuline to keep control now)
With the Novorapid it's almost mandatory that you count carbs (forgot to count a couple of times and had a nasty hypo)
My BMI is still not good enough according to my doctor (dropt from 127 kilo towards 97 kilo with 1,72 length) but it is the maximum for my body.
Coped with obesity al my life (even as baby) and i can't drop any further. T2 also runs in my family so the DNA is working LOL.
I exercise 1 hour every day and that's enough I think. You also need to live, work etc. etc.
I hope that i don't gain any more weight from using insulin, which occurs almost everytime when you switch to insulin but i'm doing the best i can :-)

Hi Annemarie, and welcome. We'll all look forward to keeping up with your progress on the pregnancy front so good luck and good luck to Adelle0607.

Did you use google translate RBR? LOL
Otherwise i will talk plain dutch to you from now on ;-). Kidding

I did google :) My daughter has a school pen pal in the Netherlands and the Dutch students came over this year for a visit. .
