Hi and welcome. It sounds like you are taking the right approach by cutting down on all the carbs which will help you lose weight and reduce blood sugar. Has the GP prescribed Metformin tablets yet? Occasionally people are mis-diagnosed as T2 when they are late onset T1. Your BS levels make that a possibility but as you have some excess weight it becomes less likely. See how your weight and BS go during the coming weeks on the low-carb diet. If the BS don't move down but your weight does it may be worth asking for the two tests for T1. BTW ketosis is when the body starts burning fat as it lacks the insulin to burn carbs (or doesn't get enough carbs). Ketosis by itself is fine but in the presence of high blood sugar can become dangerous and is called Ketoacidosis when the blood becomes acidic.
