Hello
I am a new member to Diabetes UK Although I joined in April I have been rather conerned about writing anything a chat forum.

I am 61yrs old and been type 2 Diabetic for 5 yrs. I was at first on diet only but when you have a good cook in the family like my OH it is very difficult to say No.
Unfortunatley I went onto Metformin twice a day in addition to High Cholestrial and Blood pressure tablets.
I have decided I need to lose some weight at 18 stone its a bit too heavy for me.
I have also just been diagnosed with Osteoarthritus in both legs and ankles which is another incentive to lose some weight.

I do find it very hard to lose because of the lack of exercise or limited.

I have retired early so I couch potato a lot which doesn't help either.

Hopefully by joining this forum letting off steam or just chatting I am sure I will get some support and feel the incentive to get out and about a bit more.

Anyway thats enough chat for now just wanted to say HI

Hi copperend,

Joining these forums was a good start!
In spite of it always being 90% will power it's always good to have added support.

[thumbsup]

Hi copperend.
Glad to see you have joined our Forum. However if you were looking for Diabetes UK.....this is NOT it.

We are Diabetes.co.uk.......no connection with DUK at all. Stick with us instead. :D

Hi - I am a newer newer member than the new member I am replying to. I joined this afternoon. It is incredable how similar all my symptoms are to the writer.
I have had type 2 for about 3 years now - the specialist said I got it because I was on prednesilone(?) and methotrexate for my rheumatoid arthritis. (Off those now for a couple of years and feel no worse for it).
Initially I was on metformin but my stomach could not take it. Used several others but the double figure bloods were not coming down. Been on insulin now for over a year and have steadily come down.

Now - just changed doctors - and he is changing treatment. Still on 65 whatevers of insulin but he put me back on coated metformin once a day (no stomach trouble). Bloods dropped from average 6.5 to 7.9. He has now doubled it to twice a day - a week or so ago.Bloods now doing 5.5 to low 3's. Getting the wobbles a bit and feeling rough just before I eat.

Too much? Less insulin? More whiskey? Chocolate cake? Any suggestions or experience welcome.

Thanks "ourgranary"

Hello ourgranary, :)

It would seem your post has got 'lost' but you may get answers on the 'Ask a question' or 'Greetings and Introductions' sections if you ask the questions there.

I know nothing about insulin so wouldn't attempt to advise you, this should 'bump' up your post and I just hope that this prompts someone who knows more to answer your query. :)
