Hi there
I've just signed up but was diagnosed just over a year ago. It has been a bit of a rollercoaster ride - but I have brought my blood glucose level down and have lost 4 stone into the bargain. However I'm struggling a bit at the moment - eating the wrong things because I'm a bit down. I'd love to hear from people who can help me to motivate myself again...I've still got about 2 - 3 stone to go which would work wonders in controlling my levels...

Hi Claire.

Welcome to the forum. Have a good look around and if you have any questions, just ask. There is always someone with an answer. Congratulations on the weight loss etc. I am sure that with some good advice from the folks on here we will soon get you back on track.

Well done you for getting so much weight off, it is not an easy thing to do. :D You obviously have great determination and after all that effort it isn’t surprising that you are a bit wearied by it all. Hang on in there as you are at least half way there and have less to lose but so much to gain by sticking at it!

There is so much on this site that it will take you right out of yourself as you explore around and about. There are new folks like me who know nothing, some very erudite and scholarly who have investigated every aspect and share the knowledge they have gained and there are great encouragers who are worth their weight in gold.

All the best,

Hi Claire
you've done brilliantly to lose so much weight.Keep reminding yourself of your successes aand feel good about it. Now the weather's turned, go out and buy yourself something warm to wear an know you feel and look good in.
I just bought myself a purple jumper 25% off at Sainsbury's

Hi,

As a Type 2 myself, I consider that the best place to start in controlling blood glucose levels is to cut back dramatically on the starchy carbohydrate - i.e. cereals, bread, potatoes, pasta and rice. That usually leads to a big improvement in blood glucose levels.

Diet is much more powerful than weight loss in my opinion.

Best wishes - John
