I have only just found your forum and found an answer to something I was unsure about.
I was diagnosed with T2 in August 2010, so am very new still to what it all means.
I have a brother who is an insulin dependent T2, but I am on metformin, started with just 1 x 500mg now trying 2.
Had a reading of 18.9 this afternoon which is the highest it has ever read, but I wondered if this could have been the result of not eating regularly for the last couple of days. Today I had sultana bran for breakfast but also had 2 slices wholemeal toast, then at about 2pm had a ham, primula and tomato sandwich, a zero yohurt no added sugar and three plain biscuits later on, took bloods at around 4pm and that was when it was 18.9 :( Usually it stays in mainly single figures.

I dont understand it really, I am using a contour usb which seems to be a great, easy to use monitor.

Great forum :)

Hi

I'm not type2, I am type 1, but there is no way I would have that much carb before from breakfast time to 4pm...

Hi Wesley and welcome to the forum :) Yes - I think what you ate was responsible for your high levels. You need to get them down as soon as you can by cutting down the carbs as you had a lot there. Here is some information that should help you to choose what you eat to help your levels come down and other basic information that should be very useful to you:

Then have a good read around the forum and ask as many questions as you like - we are all here to help each other.

hi wesley and welcome,

Hi Wesley

Me 3 also type 2 and also dx July/Aug....Am managing on diet alone at the moment...Low carbs is the way forward (tho not for everyone)...Reading and digesting (pardon the pun) what you read is key...I found it best to get to grips with bite size chuncks (oh another food joke) lol....I basically try to eat carb free or very very low untill my evening meal...I allow and enjoy my carbs with that...Good luck and welcome to the forum :)

wobblyme :)
