Hi everyone, I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes on 29th September, but I am pretty sure that I have had it for many years previous.
I'm 40 years old and have found that I'm coping quite well - I'm on Metformin and Gliclazide, bs now coming down very well.
I'm really happy with the medical advice and treatment I've received from my GP and my PN, and also from the local Diabetic Screening Service, who got me an appointment for retinotherapy testing within 3 weeks of being diagnosed.
I found Diabetes.co.uk to be a godsend in the first few days after being diagnosed. They have loads of useful stuff that I printed off and read up on.
I'm not going to let this condition rule me - I am going to keep it under control and get on with the rest of my life. I have a husband and teenage son at home, so I need to be as 'normal' as I can to cope with our day to day life!!!
Just wanted to say 'hi'.
Thanks for listening!
