Thought I’d introduce myself. Been diagnosed for a couple of months but it’s only just sinking in. I’m type 2 and with a bmi of 35. I’m trying to lose weight obviously but struggling at the moment due to it being so close to Christmas and treats available everywhere!

Get yourself a bg meter, see what those carby "treats" do to your body and you'll find them easier to resist, especially if you replace them with satiating real food.
I certainly found the first Christmas challenging. We changed the menu to have really nice seafood. That was not my husband's preference but fortunately he loves me and could see I was struggling.
Make sure you do have plenty of food that is naturally low carb- Ham and Turkey like most meats is fine. Have cauliflower and/or broccoli as a side (quite low carb). Maybe some berries with cream as a dessert? Cheese is also good so indulge there.
I suggest concentrate on managing your blood sugar levels first and then worry about weight after that.
