Hello

Hi Eddie, how're you doing?
Hi!
I'm doing well thanks. I don't tend to get any real high or low levels. I'm a bit on the high side between 8.6 and 16 (after food).
Xigduo & Semaglutide (finally back on it after the recent scarcity because of the "Diet Pill" farce)

Hope you are well too. You have quite a health history there!

Thanks, I owe my good health to the miracle of this forum in reducing glucose levels by not raising them too much in the first place, and the miracle of a modern drug in reducing my cancer. Are you thinking about bringing your blood sugar down a bit through your diet?

Well, I would like my levels to be 'normal'.
A couple of years ago, I had Salmonella and lost 4 stone in 8 days! That wasn't the most pleasant of experiences but great for weight loss!
My BMI is around 27, which is classed as overweight, but after that incident, I don't have a lot of fat to lose. I'd like to add/tone my muscles but that would increase my weight and hence my BMI.
My HBa1C was coming down nicely but my drugs got messed about because of the "Diet pill" debacle recently when all the Semaglutide supplies were bought up by diet companies. Now back on Semaglutide and everything is coming back down again.
Already working on my diet but I see that you are on LCHF so I'll have a look at that.

I think you've spotted one of the real problems with BMI. It's not a very good indicator for individuals.

I have the same problem. I am a big unit, and 35 years ago when I was much younger, pretty fit, and had almost no body fat, my BMI was showing me as overweight, borderline obese. I did some reading back then, and discovered that BMI was designed for use with populations (say 10,000 people) rather than individuals. It's kind of close enough for many, but about 20-25% of us really don't fit.

The NICE in the UK switched from BMI to using the waist to height ratio in new guidelines in 2022. However I expect that many medics in the UK will be slow to change. Wikipedia link:

It's simple. You're supposed to keep your waist circumference at less than half your height. Weight doesn't come into it at all.

This is my fifth year largely in ketosis, and I'm still losing body fat. However my weight loss has slowed right down because I started exercising again in 2023 and am regaining muscle: I never really cared what my BMI figure was. The waist to height ratio works much better for me.

Yes, BMI does not work for many people. Our neighbour's son is very fit and has almost no body fat but his BMI says that he is Obese because he is all muscle.
I'm pretty slim nowadays and I don't agree that I am overweight.
The waist to weight article is interesting. I'm 32 inch waist and 69 inch tall so according to that, I'm good.
