Hi there
@Maarten and welcome to the forum. Your HbAc1 result of 5.6% is within the healthy none diabetic range. As I’m sure you are aware, the pre-diabetic range in the US is 5.7 % - 6.4%
Your HbAc1 test shows the average blood sugar level over the last 3 months. It is weighted towards the end of the 3 months, so many factors can influence it, some very carby meals or an illness for instance. At this time I would not be too concerned. In point of fact in Canada the pre-diabetic range is 6.0% - 6.4% and in the UK it is the same but expressed as 42 mmol/mol - 47 mmol/mol (6.0% - 6.4%) . Why we can’t have a uniform measure I don’t know, but we don’t.
I hope that helps with respect to your HbAc1 results which is the standard blood test for diabetes.
You say you have had some funky glucose readings, what are your concerns, if you don’t mind me asking?
