What's the quickest and safest way to loose weight if you are a type 1 , take insulin and metformin

Hello @m786xxx

Your post looks urgent, why would you need to lose weight quickly ?

Weight loss is best done slowly to ensure success, as your type 1 do you carb count and take quick acting insulin ?

I have been trying to loose it for a few months now and I did loose 2 kg but now it's just stopped.. i have to attend a wedding in June

Go slowly, and stop worrying? Maybe have something else you could wear if you’ve already got an outfit? It’s easier to keep weight off, in my experience, if it’s happened because eating habits and portion sizes have changed. A non T1 friend who has real difficulty losing weight has just discovered the Exeter Uni training responses to food programme and it’s working for her, but then she doesn’t have to juggle insulin doses and metformin so I don’t know if it’d be good for you.

Hello @m786xxx Unfortunately with weight loss your metabolism can slow down, I would encourage more activity as a way to aid weight loss, you need to pay close attention to your bg levels and have a plan for exercise so you are prepared to either reduce your quick acting insulin before you do it, and test during to check your levels, have a look at runsweet.com

My 2ps worth is that if you are only 3 kg (half a stone or thereabouts) overweight then it might be tricky to lose it quickly and safely.
The 'low hanging fruit' is to to cut the junk especially foods that bloat e.g. crisps. If you were to strip out sugar (assuming you do not have a Mars Bar habit anyway?! But biscuits, orange juice or even dried fruit can jack up insulin needs and make it easy to gain weight or fail to lose it. Less calories in though equates to less calories out so resorting to diet shakes etc. will make a post event weight gain inevitable.
Losing a little water weight and having great skin would make you feel great and as Juicyj has pointed out, exercising more will help too (muscle tone can be added in 4 weeks if you are not working out with weights now).. As a trainer I'd suggest squats and lunges but don't know your current fitness levels or possible injuries so it might be worth getting some expert help locally!
Don't panic and try to remember that after the first glass of champagne you may not care so much about that last 3 kgs....If you do care there is always spanx!

You can lose up to 1 to 2 pounds a week but you need to take it slower as its a lot harder with type 1 and you need to watch you blood sugars carefully and eventually you can reduce your insulin to help aid weight loss. Do cardio, resistance training and make sure to be on a good diet in order to lose weight. I loss about 5 stone just doing those 3 things.
