So...I’m type 2 and diagnosed in April. Since then on meds (Gliclazide, Metformin and Empagliflozin) I’ve got my HbA1c down from 117 to 39. So stopped the Gliclazide which is good as causing me to hypo. So still on Metformin and Empagliflozin...

My fasting BM has gone up from 5.5 to 6.7 and kinda the same at bedtime. I know in the greater scheme of things this isn’t a BAD number but I am eating very low carb and confused as to why my numbers aren’t lower?

I wonder if the other two meds are doing anything at all....any advice on others in same position or otherwise would be really helpful!!

I started low carb as soon as I was diagnosed and my numbers went down smoothly for some months, but then suddenly started to be all over the place. I just kept on the same way and gradually the number settled down even lower, but I think there were some serious alterations going on with my metabolism and it was staggering around trying to get back into balance.

When you say low carb... can you give us some daily food examples?

So one 40g slice of bread at breakfast, carb free lunch and small portion of rice/potatoes (not weight but not much) at night...is that still too much?

I’ve also been doing it since diagnosis so quite used to it now and figures did come down but confused by figures now. Maybe patience is name of game?

For me it would be yes.. I never eat bread of any kind (even low carb ones) as they trigger all sorts of addictive behaviour.
Also wouldn't have rice or potatoes either but green veg instead. In fact I skip breakfast anyway to extend my overnight fast to help with lowering insulin levels just having tea and coffee until 1 pm at the earliest and sometimes not eating until dinner. I try to keep below 20g of carbs per day to stay in ketosis which seems to work pretty well for me. No hunger and pretty well controlled blood sugars. Have also lost a fair bit of weight following this way of eating.
