My bg at 8.30 was 3.4 I treated with lucazade- -50% basal for an hour 10g snack as had insulin on board

45 mins later 4.2 but felt like I was dropping lucazade again and and a 10g snack started -50% for an hour again

9.45 2.2mmol!!!! Gfs syrup and lucazade and I have now suspended insulin for half an hour to try get me out of this downward spiral!

I have had a busy weekend and am 8 weeks pregnant so these are 2 reasons why this could be happening! I did run a - temp basal whenever I was busy and walking lots tho!

I have had this once before due to exercise then getting the sickness bug and not keeping food down! But was on pens then and dsn who I phoned her the next day said I should have phoned for an ambulance! Really don't want that if I can help it!

I have drank a whole bottle of lucazade in 1.5 hours! I don't feel I can eat anything else or I will be sick! Any advice please!

Pregnancy has a very strange effect to diabetes. The stress it has in your body can cause all these lows. Just take it easy could be your weekend catching up on you just c

Aw Hun I hope you're ok, I had a couple of episodes like this in early pregnancy, consumed a ridiculous amount of glucose & carbs and either dropped a bit or just stayed the same, was usually evening time and then it would VERY slowly start to come up, one time I woke middle of the night after it happened and then I was in double figures, absolutely no winning sometimes! Hope yours cane back up steadily and you had an ok night xx

Thanks @Mrsass I ended up suspending my insulin for half an hour and forced a piece of toast down me! I set my alarm for midnight and my sugar was 13.9! Correction dose given, 9.9 3 hours later so another correction! 6.3 this morning! Dsn said I'd dealt with it right, that didn't change the fact I'd been in bed for an early night and couldn't sleep till levels were sorted! So tired today! It was actually really scary! I was so upset! I just couldn't get them up and I felt like I was going to be sick if I ate anything else or even drank anymore lucazade! X

I had lows like that @Sarahkylie88 Sometimes I'd spend the morning eating packets of sweets and I still didn't go up.

Take care and test lots - and keep that Lucozade near! I reduced my basal a little early in pregnancy.

I don't use Lucozade now, but think I have read somewhere the glucose content had been reduced.
If i am really low I take Gluco Tabs. also a small slice of toast afterwards when at home

I believe that's only certain flavours of Lucozade. I always stick to the same tried and tested basic flavour and find it works well. Pregnancy hypos often need a quick liquid glucose hit many women find - hence the frequent mention of Lucozade here!

I don't find glucotabs work for me, they are quite slow to work, whereas Lucazade works within minutes and I feel better quickly. Each to their own I suppose. I'm going to as the dsn and doc tomorrow about reducing basal @azure. I did find this with my last pregnancy, but not till a lot later, reduced basal rate and massive hits with meals! X X

I experienced this too while pregnant! You worry about highs but don't expect to have to worry about lows too!! Diabetes is a funny thing, esp while pregnant! I was frustrated too with having to constantly eat to keep them up and it is tiring! Keep doing what you're doing, keep lucozade and snacks handy and chat to your diabetes team so they can support and monitor x
