Hi, I have been told today that I am glucose intolerant and close to becoming type 2. Too be honest this is no great surprise.
I love chocolate and use it as a mood lifter, treat, and oh I'm hungry snack!!
Any suggestions on alternatives and ideas for breaking with a lifetime of bad habits?!
Thanks

How about Weight Watchers hot chocolate? Or chocolate mousse light? Have you tried the healty cereal 'Nakd' bars? They do a chocolate and orange one and a cocoa one. NOT the same as a real chocolate bar, but a lot healthier (still lots of natural sugars in it though, as lots of dried fruit).

Make your own goodies, still have to exercise some self control, obviously >> viewtopic.php?f=18&t=23840&hilit=chocolate+paradise

If you go for dark chocolate that has a 85-90% cocoa content it should help with the cravings, Aldi do a brand called Moser Roth which has 5 individual bars per pack and each come in at around 4g of carbs.

how did that get past the naughty word filter?

I have a square of dark chocolate every evening. It's the portion size that matters.

Get into making your own chocolates - its fun and you can control exactly how much sugar content is in them. Dont go for the 'Diet' chocolates as they contain maltitol which can have some unpleasant after effects   - although on the otherhand if you do try it, I guarantee it will make you cut down on the intake - either that or you will loose some friends   .

Dark chocolate the best :D Coop has one with 17g carb per 100g and still tasty
