Turns out that I have elevated levels of Creatine kinase? Has anyone experienced this? This has coincided with inception of the Keto Diet, so not sure if it is cause? I wonder if KETO + Heavy exercise has caused breakdown in muscle? I have muscle aches and some twitches so slightly concerned although still able to go gym.

I had to look it up, and this is what I found
You are doing a keto diet abd one side effect can be that as you drop the carbs but do not compensate the loss of glucose energy by increasing either protein or fat, then the body makes its own energy by scavenging muscle tissue and converting it to glucose.

Perhaps a google of Professor Tim Noakes would help explain better than I can. He is one of the keto diet grand masters who is also a fitness coach and athlete.

Working out on keto may be stressing your muscles and raising the creatine. It sounds counter productive to increase fat but that is what LCHF is all about. The HF in my mind stands for Healthy Fat, but it is usually referred to as higher fat.

Thanks. Never been more scared. I have worked out loads over last 8 weeks and may be eaten too much Protein, but super concerned as was not expecting this. I have meeting with specialist in Manchester next week...

Are you taking a statin...?

I wouldn't be worried about slightly elevated levels unless I suspected that a statin was causing the muscle damage. If that was the case, I'd stop it straight away, as per the information leaflet advice.

These are above a 1000! So more than slightly elevated. That’s the problem. It’s not statin related which means that I don’t know what it is. I have been exercising pretty hard for the last 6 weeks and hopefully it’s related to that. I ran 4 miles the day of the test. But quite worried now as have been aching and twitching for best part of a month now. Neuro wasn’t concerned.

Thanks for help. Re-tested after non working out and was at 290. Very relieved. so turns out that working out on day of test and 48 hours prior was a huge mistake, hence the significantly elevated Creatine Kinase.....
