Help for my sis please

I’m wondering about LADA too, because it seems to me that those blood sugars that are showing on the Libre graph you (or your sibling) posted look to equate to an HbA1C of WAY more than 71. Which suggests that maybe things have gone downhill very very suddenly, which isn’t really a Type 2 “thing”.

(I suppose the other possibility might be that the 71 was when you were on the lower carb diet? And this graph is from when you’re eating more carbs?). I hope you can get someone to take this seriously and test you, so that you at least know whether you need to be on insulin or not. It seems to me that this has gone a bit beyond the undeniably upsetting “op having to be cancelled”. Those sugars aren’t just a BIT high, they’re very very high.

I would stress to your doctor that your brother was misdiagnosed as T2 when he was in fact LADA. Also that he was overweight too. Unfortunately the medics do tend to think T2 when someone is overweight.

The LCHF was when first diagnosed a year ago, the op was cancelled two weeks ago (ish) when they did the Hba1c of 71, although not low carbing those numbers are not eating with abandon, she is still avoiding the obvious sweet thing and pudding etc, sorry to answer for you Carol, I’m really trying to sit on my hands :)

With @Carol s also present on the thread, I think it's fine for you to help get the complete picture, provided she's ok with it too of course!
Two people know more than one after all.

Just like it's helpful to take someone with you to complex appointments, no matter if they are medical, legal or something else. As long as the one you took with you doesn't completely take over the conversation of course. :)

My sugar levels are saying hi now don’t know how concerned I should be just taken 2 glicazide and 2 metformin don’t know how long they take to work ?

It might be worth washing your hands and checking it again in case it's something on your hands or a rouge reading if it's a finger prick test.

Her finger prick and libre gone over max, She had eaten some stew earlier, then two crackers with pate, then nothing for seven hours, I’ve convinced her to go to a&e

Tbh I didn’t know libre could max out

Reminds me of me, I was in hospital bed convinced they had mixed my tests up with someone who was ill, I am wondering now what my dad had, he was a very badly controlled “T2”

We had T1 Nan on mums side, don’t think we had much chance lol

Maybe A&E will get tests done for T1/LADA. Hope so.

A Libre maxes out at a little lower than most fingerprick meters.
But if a fingerprick said HI too, it's likely to be over 32.
I’ve convinced her to go to a&e
Thank you!
(Why does stuff always happen during the weekend?)

No, those tests take longer to come back.
But they likely will test for acidosis and if necessary keep her in for insulin.

Wish you both the best, @Carol s with the unwelcome trip to A&E and your diabetes, and @Fenn with the worrying!

@Carol s so sorry you've had to go to the hospital and lots of wishes that they sort your bg out and you feel better very soon.

@Fenn , as @Antje77 said, try not to worry too much. The hospital should hopefully be much more clued up than Carol's GP.

Virtual hugs to you both.

Hi Guys, heard nothing yet, I have texted, I am hoping she is sleeping at home so not seen my text, will hopefully update with some good news soon

I appreciate your kindness as always :)

Hi @Carol s , @Fenn , how are you now?
Hi Antje,

Thankyou for asking, update is pretty boring I’m afraid after all the drama, Carol was taking steroids for five days, this was apparently causing the high numbers, she has finished the course and numbers have come back down to her usual bad levels, yours and everyone’s help was and is very much appreciated, you are amazing, I hope you all realize the good you do.

She is having a read of the forum and I’m sure will ask more questions and hopefully share some good news re her op soon :)
