Help..Getting bored with veg and dairy

The nurse is following the NICE guidelines. Many of us here find these guidelines are not the best strategy for T2D to follow. You have a choice of different diet styles used by forum members, and there is a Success Stories & testimonials that is worth a browse to see how others have dealt with controlling their condition. I would suggest to start at the most recent and work backwards since we have benefitted from recent research findings..

Yes I know terry, my point is that the advice not to test because you are controlling your T2 by diet, is absolute nonsense, and definitely not in your best interests.
If you don't test to see what effect your diet is having on your blood sugar levels, how do you know you are controlling anything.

Hi Terry as said you should invest in a cheap meter and testing strips to find out how food affects your BG. you will need less strips as you go along because you will know what food is good and what isn’t. I would also say that everyone on here doesn’t just talk the talk but walk the walk. We have all had to find a way to manage our diabetes. You might well be missing out on food you enjoy and which doesn’t raise your BG. Good luck!

Sometimes, unfortunately, the advice is wrong. The time in which this advice has been handed out (from about 1980s onwards?) has also seen a huge rise in type two diabetes. The earlier advice, current up to the 1970s, was for T2s to limit sugar and starchy food and to eat more meat and fats. If you look up the ration books from WW2 you'll see that the ration schedule for diabetics allowed extra fats and meat for diabetics, with sugar removed.
