Help I'm ill.

Sickness and diarrhoea since 5am. My sugars were 4.7 then and they're hovering around 6 now even though I've eaten nothing. I couldn't stand in the early hours and have just been drinking water. I've never felt so ill in my life. The effort of going to the loo was so.much I had to lay on the hallway floor for 20 minutes sweating and shaking before I managed to get down the stairs on my but.

Perhaps you should visit an Emergency Room for immediate medical attention. It is important to exercise caution when it comes to your health. I hope you feel better soon.

Hey Croc,
It looks like a serious onset of either food poisoning, norovirus, flu or something else with these serious symptoms, so the best would be for you to call some available out-of-hours / weekend emergency medical assistance, as soon as possible, before any further damage caused by dehydration, and they will guide you for what should be done.
Take care, and get better soon!

Ouch, sounds awful. Remember to drink plenty of water to replace lost fluids, especially in diabetics. If you have bloody stools or severe abdominal pain then a visit to A&E is advised. Hope you feel better soon.

What does A&E stand for? Is it the UK equivalent of an American ER (Emergency Room)?
Oh should have translated lol. A&E is the UK hospital department called Accident and Emergency, same as the ER.

Thanks for the information. I've just added another file to my brain for UK lingo, this one sharing the same acronym as a popular section in the newspaper, Arts & Entertainment, the latter of which would be a worthy distraction in the event of a visit to the Accident & Emergency. Here in America, unless you've been shot or are in Hollywood disaster movie style visible distress, a trip to the ER/A&E it is often a very long haul before getting to see a doctor.

Lol...only in the USA...change your name to Tom Cruise for VIP treatment lol.

Hi @Croc,

You need to be reviewed at the earliest opportunity hun. If you ring NHS Direct on 111, you'll gain access to a qualified nurse & a doctor very quickly. They'll review your condition, give you advice & arrange for you to be seen if necessary. Your body is clearly under stress & you need some help. So, please don't leave it any longer. The advantage of calling NHS direct as an initial contact is that you can do so from the privacy of your own home, without worrying about going out when you have diarrhoea. I hope you get some treatment & will feel better soon. Please let us know how you're doing. Best wishes. X

I would call an out of hours GP... More than likely food poisoning or gastroenteritis if
your levels have dropped.

Had bery similar but had just had huge bolus injection and had to tell hubby to call 999. He also had a bout of it and ended up passing out on toilet once and in hallway twice. Couple days and we were bith back to normal.

Hope you are managing ok. First port of call for me would be an out of hours GP as they can give anti sick tablets or injection etc..

Well, out the other side. Having a rare sick day from work, just eaten for tge first time since Saturday. Well see how that goes.

I may have spoken too soon. Had something to eat and all systems go again.
