Help! I have so much weight to lose

Yep I have texted hubby and both of our sons. One son has phoned me and the other texted me. Hubby probably has his phone switched off (sigh!) His phone is always switched off.

Thanks And Breathe, lunarlinda and sanguine. I am so HAPPY!
Awesome result! Sorry this is late!

I too am 56. I've averaged 2.5lbs loss p.w. In the beginning it dropped off at 3 or 4 pounds a week. Some of this was pre diagnosis and not done purposely. Then I discovered myfitnesspal here and keyed in a desired weight loss of 2lb then 1.5lb. Now I'm off metformin I've gone for 2lb but eat a lot more than the 1200 calories it says I need. This is because I've added a little more exercise. But this week I had lost 3lb! It's a vicious circle. I've cut the cheese a little because my HbA1C was higher, the good and the bad elements. I didn't aim for 3lbs.
I upped the desired from 1.5 to 2 pounds partly because I've read that metformin is an appetite suppressant and also aides weight loss. My thinking was I needed to aim for a 2lb loss to achieve a 1lb loss.
Until I was 30 I was a fitness fanatic and I also was fixated with keeping weight down. At 171cm tall I now realise I was never overweight. Anyway, they say the body has a memory and I wonder if all the exercise I've been doing has woken up my body and kick started my metabolism. I don't know.
About loose skin ... The muscles in my legs have returned and they are back to the basic good shape I always used to have, but I have loose skin appearing on inner and outer thighs. Actually though, I'm wondering if the outer thigh state of affairs might just have happened anyway, as I aged. I have bing wings developing. I need to do some arm exercises because so far I've only done leg work. The Zumba helps because there's a lot of arm waving, but I need to make it a focus.

The tummy - not too bad at the moment although I have a funny story. I decided to try jogging on my walk about a month back. I thought someone was clapping my efforts but alas it was my tummy hitting whatever was underneath it!!

I will have loose skin on my tummy but I will never go down the surgery route. But I do understand it is a must for some because of the enormous weight loss they achieve.

About stretch marks!! The irony! I went through my pregnancy and only had a 2cm mark across the lower part of my tummy. Then I proceeded to completely wreck my body. Anyway, we have a briefing meeting in school before the start of each day. Any other business? Said the head. "I've found a stretch mark!" Said I. ;-)

My poor daughter began to get stretch marks the minute she became pregnant. Even 5 years later, the marks on her tummy resemble a tiger stripe pattern, very wide. Poor girl, also on arms, legs, boobs and bottom , although they aren't as noticeable. May be hormonal? I've digressed ... Sorry

Inspectors came and went. We were told to get all books uptodate and marked within an inch of their lives. I always mark like that but had fallen a bit behind as have 2 y10 classes and we have prepared for writing and speaking simultaneously so now have frozen shoulder. Need to go into work and mark speaking. Got to bake cake for daughters club. Nice to be back posting on forum!

Cake now in oven. Brekkie being cooked by hubbie. Hubbie in strop over ..... No idea really. They were all supposed to be out yesterday at camp but my brother in law didn't want to and neither did nephew. The deal was my hubbie was going to set tent up in their back garden but then didn't want to do that and sleep with just our kids in tent. Also brother in law just got own house ( horrible split gets nephew once a fortnight ) and come out of army so bit houseproud. Mother in law visiting so wanted hubbie packed up by 10am and gone. Hubbie hurt that can't see own parents and girls not able to play with cousin. I can see it from both sides. Were very laid back. Have the more the merrier approach. House is a real tip and we kind of muddle along. Not everyone is like that.
Should have made cake yesterday but all still home and knackered after HMI visit.

Scandi that sounds like a nightmare

Didn't go to school so now not marked speaking! Sent hubbie on cycle ride to give him some time out and am making kids tidy their room as it had got to the stage where you could barely open the door. One Direction blaring as we speak! Meeting brother, nephew and parents at park so will cycle there!

Almost had panic. Got joe brown sz 16 dress. Bit snugg but my only cycling dress. Got stays accross back which shrunk in wash. Couldn't get dress on. Hubbie uptight as wanting to be there now! Sent him on way with kids. Rethreaded stays and now ok. If I could just lose this 7lb everything will fit a tiny bit better! Going to park now! See you all later!

I too find it difficult to lose any weight. I've been low carb for years and lost a lot to start with, about 3 stones, Now however, I need to do an Atkins Fat Fast for 3 days to see quick and satisfying results. You can look it up in books or on-line, but essentially it's 5 "meals" of 90% fat per day. I've done it a couple of times and it WORKS! and I didn't feel hungry. The foods include Cheese like Camambert, Half an avocado and a portion of double cream with flavourings.
It's a bit drastic, but a great confidence booster AND it's only for 3 days.

I'll bear that in mind, next time I get stuck at a weight for a while, thanks.

Yay! I am so pleased for you! Big hug! I am a pound lighter today but concerned that will be a pound heavier tomorrow as always heavier at about 6-7am than at 9 and also slightly heavier just after shower so can only weigh self at 9 at the weekend. I know I should only weigh myself once a week and freely admit to being obsessed but need to lose that weight.

How much are you trying to lose? I started at 16st 1 and just kept setting myself half stone targets. I knew where I wanted to go and made 11 my long term goal. It still is but 10 is my wish list! I am 5ft 3.5 and small boned so know I have no excuse. I just wish I'd known about LCHF earlier!

The half cm is really important isn't it? I'm your height and started roughly at same starting weight. Have lost about a stone so far but it doesn't come off as easily as it went on. I used to be about 9 and half st but don't think I'll see that again so like you I'm setting 10st as a reasonable compromise. I think that working in half stone targets is a great way to go as it isn't quite so outfacing and you do achieve something much sooner so it alleviates that sense of not doing well fast enough. Keep it up xx

Yes, my target weight of 10st 4lb is a compromise too. I would love to be 8st 10lb which was what I was when my second child was a few months old, but realistically I don't think I will be able to get there.

So go for 9st 7lb Zand - a compromise within a compromise!
