Help! Its all new to me

Hi everyone

Just searching net and stumbled across this site so now registered. I'm mum to an 8 year old girl that has just been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. Back at hospital tomorrow for more information and first visit with consultant. Its all a bit daunting for us.

Glad I came across this site. I'm sure i will find it very useful when I have my "down days" and need some reassurance.

Welcome.
I am not a T1 so I expect there will be people on here soon who will help and support you. There are many Mom's & Dad's on here who all know what you are facing. this is the best place you could have come too. Just ask what you like any time. You will get answers.

Welcome on board, I'm a T2 so can't offer any advice but I'm sure you will find plenty of help here.

I'm sure someone here can help you. there are several parents of diabetic children and one of them is a GP
 
Hi Lisa, I'm type 1, although a bit longer in the tooth than your daughter! :shock:

Im scotts mum. Scott is now 11 and he was diagnosed as type 1 at the age of 4. I know what you're going through, shock and despair and thinking you will never cope, but you will! Scott has accepted it a lot better than I have, I still have moments of not coping but they pass, especially with the help you get from people on here, they are all lovely!
I am thinking of you and my heart and love goes out to both of you. Please let me know how you get on today. I am not a medical expert but I will help you all I can, from one type 1 mum to another!
