Please go to your doctor asap - he is only one who can tell you. Hope you feel better soon.

Phone NHS direct if you cant get an appointment with your GP tomorrow. You need to see someone asap

It's not being said to worry you but to stop you worrying. I had so many fears because of existing medical problems and this forum helped me so much - but the message is clear. No-one on here can tell you what is wrong but your doctor can examine you and make a clear diagnosis - just stop getting into a panic, make an appointment and sort it out.

Your diagnosis can wait a few days. If you become seriously ill with more symptoms then phone NHS DIrect. If you cannot get a GP appointment tomorrow phone Lloyds Chemist to see if they can fit you in as they do the test and will tell you whether you need to go to your GP. This is not ideal but may save you worrying. Stress raises blood sugars so please try and keep calm.

Why do you suspect diabetes? Have you friends with D? They will be able to test your blood glucose with a simple finger prick test - using a new lancet to avoid cross infection. It's best done at least twice, before & after a meal. Normal is about 5, D is indicated by above 8 about 2hours after a meal.

You can begin a suitable diet now, but cutting out sugar & cutting down cereals, bread, & other carbohydrates.

The diagnostic symptoms you report will go away when your blood sugar is under control.

You don't mention if you get shakey when you are hungry which is one of the main symptoms of diabetes.

Try not to panic, it may be something completely different and not diabetes. If you really are feeling lousy and still have blurry vision best thing probably would be to go to A&E and get checked out. If you have high BG level they will tell you immediately. If it's something else you're probably better off going to A&E anyway instead of waiting days for an appointment with your GP.

All the best.

I don't want to contradict, Ka-Mon, all your other advice is great, but... shakey when hungry is a symptom of low blood sugar, not high.

Just going by my own experience Snodger. Before diagnoses I was always shakey when hungry, no idea if I had high BG after meals though.

Dry mouth and blurred visions are an indication of high BG but as the OP mentioned "on and off" blurry vision, it just might be possible that he is not high all the time and might get shakey before meals.
