Help please - going wrong somewhere!

Hi Moggi,

Yes its about Carbohydrates, sugar is only involved because it is a fast acting carb that processes into glucose quickly.
The old name "Sugar Diabetes" still bedevils the issue.

Here below is a basic starter kit for new T2s in three easy posts .

The first is Jennifer's Smart Advice on how to establish what foods cause your bgs to rise.

The second, from an Australian Type 2 Guru, Alan S, suggests sensible practical steps based on Jennifer's advice.

The third is Maggie Davey's "Open Letter to a Newly Diagnosed Type 2 Diabetic". A basic outline of one T2 got into shape ...

After reading and digesting those you might consider getting the book called "Type 2 Diabetes ; The First Year" by
Gretchen Becker ( ISBN 1-84119-8084-8 )

Hi all, thanks so much for all the help and advice! Got the 'Carbs and Cals' book which is great for him - the phone app is good for when he eats out (which his job calls for fairly often).

Check up with the diabetes nurse today and she was very pleased with him as he's managed to keep his levels in single figures for over a week now. I was surprised though when she said he should be careful if he's below 8 at bedtime in case he had a hypo during the night... I kind of thought the idea was to be between 4-7. Clearly there's still a LOT we both need to learn.

He's not overweight but since he works from home stuck in front of a computer most of the day I think he could do with some exercise. Trying to talk him into getting a dog but I've been nagging about that for ten years so don't think I'll win that argument!
