I use 2 meters. One at home and one in the car. The one at home is a One touch vario IQ and in the car is a contour .
Just used both One gave me 4.7 and the other 3.7. I don't feel as if my sugars are low. What do you recommend.

I have two meters and they give different readings of just less than 1mmol difference. I tend to assess how I'm feeling and go with a figure in between the two.

However, if you're in any doubt, treat a hypo. Also, it depend what you're about to do. If you're going out and are going to be active, I'd treat the hypo.

Meters are never entirely accurate sadly. If in doubt, eat. Hypos can come on quickly.

I recommend choosing 1 meter and sticking to it. Get used to the way you feel in relation to the numbers it is giving you. Just keep one in the cupboard as a spare.

I totally agree with @urbanracer, use only one meter, a bit like checking your tyres in two garages, no two will ever give you the same readings, go with the one you feel happy with, I have 3 meters but only use 1

Thanks Azure and urban racer. I knew that meters could give different readings, but at such a low level that is quite a difference. I keep a different one in the car because I forget to take it otherwise :x

I'd take the average of the two, 4.2, and call it good.

I was at 4.2 yesterday after a long bicycle ride. Apart from the tired legs I felt great. :)

Just choose one meter to use and keep the other as backup. They are generally good as a guide to bg and not gospel. If you get into the habit or using two meters it can drive you crazy. :confused:

I'm about to self fund a second meter, purely so that I have a back up in case my normal one goes "fut". I have no intention of using both as I'm sure as @Nuthead has said, I would lose my marbles at the different readings.

Yes, June - that's why I have two meters. :) One's a spare.

It also means I have a spare one for work in case I forget to take my usual one ( and believe me, that's easy in the morning rush). I keep that one permanently in my work bag most of the time. I started to do that after i forgot my meter once. Oh, the panic!

Now that is just overkill :) Checking tyres??? What is that??? :)
@lynne99
Diagnosed 4 years ago and bought a meter, a very dear friend also bought me one thinking he was doing me a favour, He has since passed away, and keep it for sentimental reasons, while on this website I wanted the 365 Cookbook Receipes, ......guess what!! They sent me one So not over kill. I only use the one meter, I thought most people knew that getting their tyres checked in different garages always showed that the gauges never read the same, as a motorcyclist ( to me ) tyre pressures are crucial, So sorry to have offended anybody by using that analogy,

I was not taking offence, just trying to be humorous.;) You are doing just fine with the post. Forgot to say. I used to sell tyres, but still hate checking the pressure.:(

Just been to the doctor for my blood test results. HbA1c has gone up from 50 to 58 since being on prednisolone.:(. I am trying very hard to reduce carbs and thought I had been doing very well according to the meter. Feeling a bit down now. Also having to increase the steroids, as pain is returning. Hope this doesn't make the sugars worse.
