Good...the sooner the better....choice will give you a better understanding of the whole perspective which is so hard for us to list everything....don't be afraid to ask questions!!!!!

Have you felt like this since taking the Lipitor? Some people experience side effects of soreness with taking them...not sure about bloating or tiredness though...

Megan, ifthe choice you have been offered was like the one I did, (I am in Berkshire) there is no need to travel for a DAFNE course...from everything that people have said on here abouut DAFNE, they are pretty much thE same thing...not just a basic carb counting

CHOICE stands for

Carbonydrate (CHO) and Insulin Calculation Education

I suspect, if we were tliking about phones, DAFNE would be an i phone, and CHOICE would be an android..some people perfer one, some prefer another, but they both do the same thing, and those of us who have no phone would gladly have either.

How long approx could it take as I feel so empty ? I am struggling financially as the drop in money since stopped working is killing me and my family and benefits don't cover half of it. DLA gave low rate but was appealed but stayed low rate but I have now been diagnosed with degenrative arthiritis in my knees and possibly in feet and fingers and struggle to get up off couch and upstairs making mood even lower why does DLA have to be so hard? I take Lipitor 20MG Sertraline 200mg Lisinopril 10mg Aspirin 75mg Omeprazole 20mg Peppermint Oil and don't deel any better and that is why I struggle daily as the money worries on top of health is a bad mix

Hello ,

I have been to the diabetic specialist who has changed my insulin to levemir flexi pen and to take 10mg of domperidome every meal to help stomach issues. CHOICE programme not until October though. Having a severe fight with DLA as they think nothing wrong with me yet all these problems and arthiritis - what do I do?

Hi I can totally relate to you I have type 1 diabetes and fibromyalgia and ibs and depression wow in type that looks alot lol
I find that good glucose control makes me feel better as does a little exercise you just need to get throught the first few times of low impact i started off swimming

I also recommend multi injection therapy with novorapid it gives you tighter control apparently lol but you have to test more it is still trial and error and i have put on weight since i am trying to log everything that i do to take to my specialist .

I find it neverending and always a struggle but I just try and accepot the little success and appreciate them sorry if i sound negative thats just how i cope :)

Hello everyone ,

I feel as if I am hitting my head off of a brick wall!!!!!

My blood sugars are high in the morning avg 19 drop a bit throug hthe day and go up at night.

Lantus went from 60 to 85 and novorapid from 24 to 40 with no change.

I have went to diabetic nurse diabtic specialist and GP to say it might be the vagus nerve and I might have bezoars but they just say get blood sugars down - I only eat ready brek soup and a dinner.

I am extremely tired and fed up.

Plus have degenerative arthritis in hands knees and feet and struggle daily it is like a nightmare groundhog day - appealling dla low rate with no success

Arrogance of others, rage, hatred towards others, intolerance.
Snacking ... nuts are better than crisps or banana or dried fruit! I would pack stuff night before for next day and meal plan to help me eat better (doesn't always work).
There are many many factors and it could be lots of reasons:-
New insulins (have been known to cause aches and pains etc apart from in the media this has been kept under wraps (I am considering going back to humalin and humolog for these reasons))
Scar tissue (caused by multiple injections with blunt needles etc) have had this also
Hypos (after hypos liver can pump out too much glucose causing you to go too high)
Faulty glucose metre (had this and almost died)
Stress etc etc.

Are you having multiple hypos? Do you carb count? Has your DSN considered you might be too sensitive to insulin. I.e. I am very sensitive and some days a walk can make my BS's drop loads other days not. I have also considered the fact I might have brittle diabetes. I am depressed and tired and ache every day too so have lots of sympathy for you. However I am better than I was years ago and that is due to the kind folk on this forum.

NB note for JOPAR: Jopar ... can you get background animal insulin?!! I was told I couldn't... think it would help me.

Megan ... let me know a day or two in your diary see if I can help you more? Do you have DAFNE.. tried DAFNE also?

Right now my advice would be to do less exercise and let your sugars run a bit higher for now if having lots of hypos etc. Take baby steps. I struggle a lot too so I sympathise a lot.

Lastly I am considering yoga and pilates as a form of gentle exercise. As said above I am also considering a different old insulin. I too eat crisps etc but am now thinking if I only bring enough healthy food to work to keep me going and no spare cash I will manage longer lol. Re the yoga etc this is supposed to help aches and pains also so it might help with that situation with you. I am in agony most days on Traxam, Co codamel etc my GP won't give me physio and I don't have the luxury of DAFNE etc or counselling for diabetes although this is supposed to be standard procedure according to NICE. I have also been put on waiting list for pump but because I am too exhausted in the evening and busy at work I cannot write out a full diary of everything for a few consecutive days. Therefore my diabetic clinic said they were pushing me back on the waiting list. Hence they wonder why my depression comes back but hey ho.

Hope I have helped in some way anyway.

Hi I haven't read through all your thread, just had a quick scan but one thing I would strongly recommend is trying to get on a DAFNE (or similar) course.

It will help you immensely with the BGs but more importantly you will be able to build up a rapport with the DSNs that run it, and they will understand you. Also you can talk to other diabetics that are local to you, maybe build up some new friendships and this may help with your depression too.

I would also get a check for celiac disease, if you haven't already because some of your symptoms are symptoms of celiac disease and it is another auto-immune disease and fairly common in diabetics and often goes unnoticed for years.

Good luck and try to stay positive xxxxx
