When does he take his novorapid?
Do you miss any insulin doses?
Are all of his BG levels at >15mmols? Do you test pre-breakfast, pre-lunch, pre-evening meal and before bed?
Where does he inject? Does he have any lipos?

Is there any chance you could ask for referral into a secondary care service given his other health conditions, HBA1c and complexity of his insulin regime?

Hi,

Welcome to the forum.

I’d be looking at the Lantus performance performance first, before tweaking anything else.

Since the meds for cancer can't be helped, maybe decrease the amount of carbs in his diet very carefully, very gradually... All carbs turn to glucose once ingested, so that's not just sugars, starches too... With everything he's on and his high levels, you need to move very slowly though, or you'd risk both hypo's and eye damage.

https://josekalsbeek.blogspot.com/2019/11/the-nutritional-thingy.html might help explain things a little. But again, and I can't stress this enough: slow, carefully, and lots and lots of testing to keep on the safe side.

Good luck eh,
Jo

I'm happy to help as much as I can - given the limitations of the forum (aka, I cannot give direct advice).
Thank you, testing before every meal and bed . Adjust the injection site stomach leg swaps sides. He is having no hypos which is strange considering. Blood test completed about 3 weeks ago by private hospital as been to see them about eyes but were unable to do showed liver and kidney function fine, Cholesterol at 3 but hba1c at 126. Today he us going to try fasting for the morning and testing level’s every couple of hours just to see, we are at our wits end as eye site getting him down but nothing can be done as things are
