Hello Everyone, I’m new here. Just asking for some advice..

I’m after a pump as I’m struggling with tresiba (degludec). I keep having hypos and my awareness is very limited. I trialled a Libre and found that I was going hypo in my sleep, so we adjusted my nighttime insulin from 26U to 23 and I’m trying it at 18 currently as my nurse says I need my regain my hypo awareness. I’ve had a tiny increase in ketones by doing this (0.2/ 0.3). We’ve also tried adjusting my mealtime ratios which are 1:8 in the morning, 1:12 at lunch and 1:8 at dinner (very erratic, I know).

I get quite a lot of anxiety regarding blood sugars as I don’t feel them going low and I feel the need to test it very often.. sometimes excess of 15 times a day. I’ve had to drop an A level subject because of how much this has been effecting my ability to concentrate in class, I’m constantly worried about my sugars dropping and not realising. I’ve had some scary hypos previously. It’s really effecting my everyday life!

I think that having the ability to set different basal rates would be helpful for me as my body seems to want different amounts of insulin and certain times of the day.
I still haven’t mastered exercising without having a hypo.

How do I go about asking for a pump? As I know I will need a strong case.

Just ask. You already have a strong case. You may wish to consider the Medtronic 640g (you may not get funding for the cgm) when it is set up with the cgm it has a predictive low suspend feature, so if it thinks you are going to hypo it will turn your insulin off to avoid the hypo.

Do you think Thanks, I just need a push as I’m scared they will say no ahah. And then I don’t know what to do about that. I will ask my nurse about first.

Sounds like you've also got a case for asking for a cgm... (continuous glucose monitor).
