My latest blood test showed that my sugars had dropped to 38 so the DN took me off Januvia. I still take 2 500g SR Metformin but a month down the line my sugars are rising. I am on a low carb diet and have lost weight but am worried about my levels at night they do not go below 50. What can I do? I am due to have another blood test in July but what can I do in the meantime? I do not eat bread, rice, pasta, biscuits, cakesetc.

38 or 6.2 and now never lower than 8.1. In fact just tested 3 hours after dinner and it i5 9.2.

Are you testing immediately before eating? If so what is the rise after 2 hours?

Can you tell us everything you ate yesterday please?

Test after 3 hours, it only goes up 2 but I cannot get it lower before I eat. Yesterday I had scrambled egg (no toast). Black coffee. At lunch roast chicken, 1 potato, cabbage and carrots. When I got home had an orange, black tea and then tea time salad and 1 slice corned beef. No dressing. Before bed reading was 8.2 and on waking today was 8.5.

Your diet sounds good. Those BS readings are not too bad so I would wait until the next review and HBA1C blood test. The Januvia will only have been making a small difference so taking you off them won't have had a big effect. You say you have lost weight? What is your current BMI?

My BIN is 22.

Morning readings are subject to the dawn phenomenon. They will come down in their own good time.

Personally I wouldn't eat potatoes, oranges and I treat carrots with caution. If I were you, I would ditch them until you are happy with your numbers and then gradually reintroduce them slowly.

Are you using an app such as mySugr to record your food and readings? I found it highly motivating. It can help you see patterns. After a week of entering data it will give you an estimated HbA1c.

I am not but sounds good, I will eat up the oranges and carrots and the see what happens. Thank you.

I hate food waste, fortunately hubby ate everything I couldn't. I also went keto and kept carbs less than 20g per day
