I have followed this forum for a number of years but never joined. However I have recently had some news. In 2009 at the age of 43 I was losing weight rapidly, went to see the Dr and he diagnosed me as T2 , put me on Metformin , told me to exercise more and sent me on my way. I then lost even more weight whilst still having very high blood sugar. By this time I looked like Skeletor from the cartoon series and quite frankly looked very ill. Dr then prescribed Gliclazide, which did not help. I then moved and had to change GP practice. My new Dr phoned be up on the following Xmas eve and advised me that he would be putting be on basal/bolus insulin therapy. My numbers then came down and my weight returned to a satisfactory level. My medical records have always said T2. Just before this last Xmas, I asked if it was possible to have a diabetes antibody panel gad65 test, which I did have and the result for GAD65 test was 383.9 u/ml. They have now updated my health record to show LADA rather than T2. The exciting news is that they have informed me that I can have a fully funded Freestyle Libre kit ongoing, which I am hoping will enable me to keep a better control of my condition. That's me.Thankyou

Glad you have some kind of surety now - that's a start...
And - welcome..

Too a while, but yay for a proper diagnosis! And welcome, too!

Hello and welcome @Martin2025

Took too long but glad you have a diagnosis :) A fully funded Libre will definitely help.

Welcome and good luck
