hi everyone, I will get round to introducing myself properly promise. I'm deb, and for a few months ive been having spells of dizziness almost like when you've not eaten enough. After going back and forth to the docs with it they finally gave me a blood monitor machine and whilst showing me how to use it in the surgery my levels dropped to 1.7 rising to 3.6 on their own within 10 minutes. I have to monitor my bloods whenever they go wayward and I feel lightheaded. I have an appointment with endocrinology and metabolic medicine in Sept. My levels rarely go over 4.3 but on one occasion they shot up to 9 for no reason. I'm constantly lightheaded at the moment they are in the 6's and I have the shakes, it makes no sense....any ideas for when I go to endocrinology? Id like to go with some questions as at the moment I'm flumaxed - as is the doctor. Thanks.

I should also mention I was diagnosed with M.e. A few years ago (extreme fatigue) I am not diabetic and not losing weight x

All you can do is record your bg readings and symptoms and take them along to show the endocrinologist, they are really nice people to deal with and will hopefully find the cause of your problems, best wishes and hope it all works out well!!!!!

Hi and welcome! When do you test? What's your normal diet? Are you on any meds? What symptoms other than light headedness?

Ask away!

I test literally when I feel I need to, which is what the gp advised. So if I either feel woozy, and shaky blurry eyes and crabby mood, I know this is a low sugar level and it can be anything between the 2's and the lower 4's. Or I feel hot and sweaty really headachey and sick and I know this is high sugar level, this doesn't happen often but I bring them down with a couple of glasses of water, for the lower bloods I take glucose tablets (again on the advice if the gp). My diet is not bad, I never lose weight, but its not the worst its a middle ground I think. Ive had various random glucose tests which always come back with no worries. When I last saw the gp and she referred me to endocrinology, she said that though my bloods were in the 4's they are just about a hypo level all the time and drop very quickly. I don't let them drop to lower than a 3.7 if I can help it as soon as I feel ill I'm pricking my finger! Xx

I'd eat little and often, very often and have snacks by the bed, till I saw the endo
I don't know if it would help but I'd be like a horse, grazing all day

My advice is to read up on hypoglycaia or if as you say non diabetic reactive hypoglycaemia. It could be something else entirely. I would recommend eating a low carb diet. And test as a fasting before meals and 1 hour after then 2 hours without eating or drinking from the meal. Eat smaller plate sizes. I would also recommendvusing seething other than glucose to treat your hypo.
