Hi, I have just been recently diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. Bit scary, trying to read as much info on it as possible. Got high cholesterol and blood pressure to go with it!. Desperately dieting at the moment.
Any help and advise would be soooo greatly welcome.

Kellie :P

Hi Kellie and welcome to the forum :) I was scared too when I was diagnosed and wouldn't believe it for quite a while. I also have high cholesterol and blood pressure which are things to watch with diabetes. I am also dieting - that is something that really helps to deal with all the problems diabetes can cause. As you ask for advice I am posting a document that the monitors wrote which is a basic guide of what to do. Under the same forum (this one) you can also find a list of questions to ask your doctor or nurse when you have an appointment. Here is the link:

About Saturated fats and Cholesterol.

There is a new thread here about Cholesterol and related issues which we hope will get some of the 'facts' from both sides out in the open.

This one all about Blood Pressure.

We will shortly be starting a Blood Pressure thread as well where again we can discuss the myths and the facts.

HI Kellie.
You are at an advantage if you have only recently been diagnosed. T2 Diabetes is easier control if you catch it early.

There is a great deal of information on t'interweb in controlling T2, and lowering your cholesterol. Some of this information flies in the face of conventional wisdom, so do keep an open mind when doing your own research.

Key point is - ASK LOTS OF QUEESTIONS! This forum is a great resource for diabetics - you should take full advantage of the knowledge held by members here.
