Hello everyone,
My name is Graham and I'm 55 years old. Living life normally until the wheels dropped off in the middle of March 2015, when my pancreas decided to pack up. After being admitted to hospital with severe abdominal pains, I was diagnosed as having panceatitis as well as gall stones and various other problems. Anyway to cut a long story I was discharged after two weeks, having been told that I would need to inject Insulin for the rest of my life. My Diabetes Nurse has explained that I fall between Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes, i.e Type 1.5 (LADA).

Since March I have been coming to terms with my diagnosis, trying to accept that my life has changed forever and doing lots of reading. I have found the forums here particularly useful. So thank you and Hello.

Graham

Hi Graham and welcome to the forums. I got it last year just before my 54th birthday - fun isn't it.

Loads of info on the site and very helpful folk on the forums. So ask as many questions as you like.

Catch you later.

Hi. Many of us have gone thru a similar process with T1.5 but for me it was much slower and less obvious at first. It is essentially T1 although not necessarily caused by auto-immunity and obviously occuring later in life. Being T1 or T1.5 implies a failing pancreas. Being T2 normally implies a fairly normal pancreas but an inability of the body to use the insulin produced. If you have any questions about the use of insulin, diet or anything else do let us know
