Hey all,
Im new here. I dont think I have diabetes but im checking my self and looking for any advice. I get sysmptoms from what i think is anxiety, however, i am checking that it isn't diabetes.

I purchased a blood sugar monitor. Here are my first two readings:

After waking up (no food for 10 hours). Reading 5.1
1 hour after eating. Reading 6.6

From what i've read these seem ok? Can anyone confirm? Also I will check a few more times.

Thanks

Whelks,winkles... All crustaceous seafood except prawns. Can't do crab.lobster or scallops.
Don't like the way they are killed and cooked. Save our Scallops. SOS !!!
Also HATE evaporated milk.
It's good that you are aware of what might be round the corner though although I agree your readings sound fine to me.

If you have a parent, grandparent or any other blood relation who has diabetes you may ( or may not) develop diabetes.

Maybe you should talk to your GP who can arrange a blood test for you. I was told 4 years ago that I was 'almost' Type 2 but was given no advice as how to stay out of the type 2 range.
4 years later I am now am Type 2 and have got to take care I can put off being a Type 1. That involves monitoring, careful diet and a moderate amount of exercise. I knew nothing about diabetes but I do now. I want to stave off Type 1 for as long as possible.

If you are at all concerned go to see your GP. A quick blood test will reveal if you are indeed at risk of diabetes. Do let us know how you get on.

And we are always here with friendly good advice.

This site is the tops and it is my new home.

Hi all

I just thought I would put a quick comment to say that type 2s who do not have autoimmune diabetes can't 'become type 1'. If you don't keep tight control of your condition you can certainly end up on insulin but you still won't be type 1 and you still won't have a disease, just a condition. Just thought I would put that right to ease your worrying a bit :) welcome to the forum.
