Hi to all,

I just do not understand it yesterday I had metformin 500mg surrakarto one and insulin and my blood sugar was 11 this morning then after sweet potatoe a fishcake and small amount of peas was 14.6 supposed to be healthy why is it not lower than this and when I do go lower it only goes to an 8 I want it lower.
Really frustrating I just might as well not eat anything.

Hy. I read your thread yesterday and appreciate where you are after confirnation/diagnosis. The advice on LCHF is the key and the meter will show you what does and doesn't suit your individual body.
In a lot of ways you are ahead of many newly diagnosed T2s as already losing weight and doing excersise. I wouldn't stress too much over a few high readings after certain foods it's info you need and you can decide if you eat them again or not. I posted very similar post and it's natural to want instant results. I certainly did and still do but in real terms it's trial and error and a consistent balanced approach will get us where we want to be. Take time to let yourself process the condition and how you intend to proceed. You will have highs and lows on the meter and in yourself but im sure you will get the numbers you need.( May be worth reading the thread I started 6 week or so ago on newly diagnosed board as it addresses majority of issues) The bottom line is there are good folk on here and full of knowledge,im relative novice but you learn fast when your health at stake.. Good luck

Just realised confused your post for another one.. My bad, but still think you doing well.

Breadcrumbs spike me something 'orrible, sweet potato can be problematic. I can eat a little in a stew but made a big mistake in trying them roasted. Personally I don't eat peas.

Don't worry. This is all part of your education. Everything is trial and error and this is why we consider the meter vital.

Your fishcake might also have contained potato if they were shop bought. Always read the labels.

If you particularly like fishcake, could you make your own? Google them, just put keto first.

You will get there. It's frustrating at first but you will learn quickly.

Everything you ate contained a lot of starches, and thus, carbs, which turn to glucose once ingested. As has been stated, what is healthy for people without our particular metabolic condition, most decidedly isn't always for us. Peanuts contain all sorts of good stuff, but someone with a peanut allergy still can't have them. Similar thing, even if a carb won't make us drop dead on the spot.
