Hi Darren and welcome to the forum :) Have a good read and then if you have any questions just shout and someone will answer. Here is a document written by the forum monitors which contains information for a newly diagnosed member which might be interesting and useful for you. The thread after this contains a list of suggested questions you can ask if you have an appointment with a health care professional soon. I'm glad you feel on top of the world :)

Hi Darren

I am within 35 minutes of swansea and have been type 1 for 25 years.

Welcome to the forum, and don't be afraid to ask any questions.....we have all had good and bad times with our diabetes, and this forum is great for support during both.

I am looked after by a hospital in Llanelli.

Hope to read some posts from you in the future, if you need any help with your day to day getting used to being type 1, please feel free to pm me....
Best wishes
Sharon

Hi Sharon,
i was treated in (name removed) i was taken there when i was found in my car, i was in stages of DKA and my bloodsugar was 25 (or 21) its a little hazy still,
i spent 5.5 days in hospital on a drip to sort the DKA out. it was discovered i am Type 1 Diabetes then
i have whole heartedly accepted who i am though, i am not concerned about having to inject myself for the rest of my life. Insulin is allowing me to live properly for the first time in my life.
having a near death experience has shown me i want to live!
i want to contribute a lot to these forums and i have a blog (address on my profile) which i am using to record what i am doing now.
phew..
lol
i am going to go now .. nice speaking to you! hope i will be of use to this forum in time..
dont worry be happy - (my new mantra) lol
cheers
Darren
