im type 1 diabetic and have been for over a year.but my blood suga's have been between 4 and 7 for months now i stop taking my insulin for about a week now and been checking my suga and ketones in my urine since saturday and its stiil been between 4 and 7 .how as that happend am i still type 1 diabetic

I strongly advise you to attend your diabetic clinic or gp, i have been type 1 for 30 years and also had times when my levels were stable when i stopped injecting for a week or so but don't be fooled by a blip. By not keeping up your medication it will inevitably lead to serious problems in the future,
ie eye.kidney, neuropathy and possible amputations,i have had all these due to my bad control in the early years.
So please seek proffesional advice because once the damage starts you cannot turn back time.

hi,
if you are a type 1 you should never ever stop taking insulin,
this is what keeps us alive, if you need to adjust insulin thats fine and if not eating carbs at a meal missing that dose but to stop taking insulin is very serious... your bloods will rise and you would become very ill :?

so when you were taking insulin your levels were 4-7 and when you stopped they were 4-7 aswell, surely if you are 4-7 without insulin then with insulin you would be low? or if you were 4-7 with insulin without it you would be too high? are you sure you are getting the same levels with both? you should never stop taking insulin without speaking to a medical team, i advise you to see them.
please tell us any feedback :D

Are your test strips well within date and have you used control solution for the meter?
