Hi everyone, I'm new here. Although I do not currently have diabetes, I have found out that diabetes runs in my family and feel like I am hiding my head in the sand regarding changing my lifestyle. :hungover:

You'll find this is a positive place with many threads of people successfully adapting their lives.

Hi @Thistime6088868 ,

I can't call it sticking your head in the sand if you're not diabetic yet, maybe never even will be, and already looking for ways to avoid it entirely. Personally, I'd call that brave and pro-active. So what do you want to do, what do you feel a need for to do? If you're not diabetic, you might just want to get a HbA1c blood test done once a year, see whether anything changes there. If that's all good, no need to adjust your diet, but if you feel like you should... Just cut carbs some. Nothing drastic, just sensible eating. No sugar-laden soda's, no cereals... That sort of thing. No need to go full-on keto if you are fine otherwise.

https://josekalsbeek.blogspot.com/2019/11/the-nutritional-thingy.html gives some of the basics on type two, assuming that's the type you're concerned about, but this is geared to diabetics and prediabetics.

Hope this helps a little. If you have any specific questions, throw them out there!
Jo
