Hi,

Thank goodness you got the medical attention you needed!

I'm afraid I don't know enough about the effect of steroids on diabetic blood sugars, so I can't comment on whether this usually happens with steroids.

Did your hospital doctor say he would be contacting your doctor's surgery? If so, he may make it clear that the prescription was a serious error.

Otherwise, I think I would write a letter to your doc, nurse and the practice manager. Make it a complaint. Explain what happened, and how dangerous. Then ask for an assurance that this mistake will never happen again - to you, or any other diabetic in their care.

The doctor at the hospital was going to contact the surgery on the matter, thanks for your reply Brunneria x
