A month ago my asthma was very bad, my peak flow was 250, my nurse at the GP surgery, put me on asthma steroids, she did mention my BS would go up, I was prescribed Prednisolone 5mg ..8 to be taken all at once for 5 days... after a few hours of taken the 8 on the first day, I was feeling so much better, infact I was feeling on top form, only to do my bloods I was very thirsty and going to the toilet every 15 or so minutes, I checked my bloods they were on 32 my machine don't go any higher, I felt fine just the thirst and toilet, I rang my daughter she insisted I ring the hospital, I said id rather bed, I was calm so tired not really taking it in how serious it was, I went to casualty, and my bloods were 42.1, they checked me for keytones etc, that was low, but I was put on a drip for 3 hours, until they came down to 18 then sent home, I slowly became better the next day, the doctor at the hospital, was fuming said I should never has been prescribed the medication, I have not been back to my surgery yet, but should I put a complaint in not sure what to do, my asthma is better now, but looking back on this I was so calm while my family were petrified I was at deaths door, I could have gone in to a coma or even died x
