High BG Levels, insulin not working where to now?

I have recently found out that I have been diabetic for over 30 years but only got diagnosed 3 years ago. During those 3 years I have tried several types of tablets and several types of insulin. All medications seem to keep my BG levels at 30+ but without medication my BG levels drop to 15 and under. I eat very little carbs like less than 30g per day. I don't eat pasta, bread, potatoes or veg grown under the ground and only basmati rice in small proportions. Eating pure sugar drops my BG levels to below 10, anybody any suggestions as to what might be causing the high sugar levels. Is there something I am doing wrong or do I have another disease underlying everything else.

Hi @Crystal Lady
I'm every busy at the moment.
Do you still eat carbs even though you are saying you are low carb?
Do you know your Hba1c and fasting levels.. especially after a long fast.
Do you go really low?
Have you had tests for insulinoma?
I definitely think you have a blood glucose disorders, but which one.
Of course we're not going to diagnose you, but if you haven't already, I would get your GP to refer you to a blood glucose specialist endocrinologist. Some endocrinologists wouldn't recognize a condition if they fell over one! GPs aren't trained to diagnose!

No matter what you have, low carbing is the best solution to get control , plus, what ever in my experience, very low carb works better. As you are not adding to your blood levels. If you don't create more, your bloods have to start coming down, it's a natural progression.

I have Hypoglycaemia and there is as many types as diabetes and of course there is hyperglycaemic conditions, which is usually treated because of insulin resistance by giving you insulin or blood glucose reducing meds. There is always new types of meds, have they tried you on a gliptin, even though it produces more insulin, it inhibits the spike created by food. It is certainly worth thinking about.
Are you on any other meds, for other conditions that might have an effect on blood levels?
Have you had your thyroid checked?
Sorry for all the questions, but we can only hope to advise you if we get details.

There is the Reactive Hypoglycaemia forum if you wish to read about the condition and how weird it is!

Best wishes.
