Can you give us an expanse if what you eat in a day. Maybe we can help. It's been a while since posting but could do with some advice. I am type 2 diagnosed in October last year. I take 2000mg metformin and 4 x 80mg Gliclazide a day. I managed to get my bg down to around 6 - 7 on average but recently they have shot up again without changing anything. In the morning my bg is between 9-10. I saw my gp yesterday who said this is because my liver is over producing glucose and as I'm on the max dose of tablets, there is nothing that can be done. The problem I have is with my bg so high in the morning after I have had breakfast it's even higher. I think this could explain the reason for my headaches all the time and feeling pretty ****. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
In one of your other threads there was talk about possible T1, especially as both of your parents were T1. Have you had a follow up on that?I managed to get my bg down to around 6 - 7 on average but recently they have shot up again without changing anything.
I saw the specialist in December who said defo not type 1 as not loosing weight and the fact my Hba1c has dropped from 114 to 71 in 2 months. In one of your other threads there was talk about possible T1, especially as both of your parents were T1. Have you had a follow up on that?
I agree with the above questions as well, what kind of foods do you eat?
I'm sorry, but that's a LOT of carbs... Weetabix? Might as well have a sugary coke in the morning. (Yeah, it's that bad). Diabetes is a progressive condition, unless, and only unless, you change your diet to include less carbohydrates. They all turn to glucose once ingested. So that's bread, spuds and cereal as well... Don't get me started on fruit. For breakfast I tried Greek yoghurt with fruit but that didn't agree with my stomach and my bg didn't come down change, so have gone back to weetabix. Lunch is brown bread sandwich with fruit and dinner is meat veg and small portion of potato. Snack on fruit. Drink plenty of water. Sometimes at bed time my bg is 3-4 but high again in the morning.
Very well possible to not lose weight and to initially reduce hba1c when late onset T1 (LADA), so those factors aren't conclusive.I saw the specialist in December who said defo not type 1 as not loosing weight and the fact my Hba1c has dropped from 114 to 71 in 2 months.
Yes I have to check myself about 8 times a day due to my job. I'm trying very hard not to eat carbs but it's hard to find alternative breakfast that I can prepare and eat at 4am with waking the rest of the house.Very well possible to not lose weight and to initially reduce hba1c when late onset T1 (LADA), so those factors aren't conclusive.
But I agree with the others that you seem to be eating a lot of carbs. Do you use a meter to check before and after meals to see how a particular meal affects you?
Apart from the breakfast, why fruit multiple times a day? What about cheese, or making a nice batch of meatballs to keep in the fridge as a cold snack or even breakfast?Yes I have to check myself about 8 times a day due to my job.
